My Fab Four And The “No MakeUp” Look

My Fab Four And The “No MakeUp” Look

Ever heard of the saying, “Less is more”?  Oh I’m quite sure you have.  And for us, women, that phrase holds true with makeup.  I’ve always believed that the purpose of makeup should only be to enhance one’s God-given facial features, and bringing out the beauty in your facial features will largely depend on how you apply your makeup, as well as what kind of makeup you choose to use.  You would want to put on just enough concealer to hide the flaws, just enough foundation to even out your skin tone, just enough blush to bring colors to your cheeks, etc. etc., all the while being careful you don’t put on too much that you end up looking like a circus clown.

For many of us, one of the toughest challenges we are having to deal with from day to day is not having the luxury of spending at least an hour to put on our makeup.   The good news is that with the “No Makeup Look”, it doesn’t have to take more than 10 minutes.

“MyMy Recommended!

Whether or not you have some extra time to put on some eye color, this foursome is all you will need to achieve a “no makeup” look.  Just make sure your eyebrows are well-trimmed (click here for a quick eyebrow tutorial) and you’re good to go!  That’s a promise.

I highly recommend to you “My Fab Four”–Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, The Bodyshop Skin Focus Face Illuminator, Smashbox Halo Perfecting Powder, and Laura Mercier Lip Plumper.

I have tested and actually worn these products (all together) long enough to guarantee  a flawless, luminous and oh so pretty effect!

A Closer Look At Each Product

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. This will allow your makeup, foundation, or in this case, the Face Illuminator to glide on smoothly, evening out blemishes, scars, pores and creases, and preventing your makeup from caking.

The Body Shop Skin Focus Face Illuminator. This is like a tinted moisturizer with very fine shimmer particles that contribute to the glow and luminosity that it promises to give the skin.  It is very light on the skin and promises to instantly boost your skin’s natural radiance.  During the time that I have been using this product, I can testify that it has delivered that promise without fail.  I apply the Face Illuminator after the Photo Finish Primer.

Smashbox Halo Perfecting Powder. Lightly dusted over the Face Illuminator, the Smashbox Halo Perfecting Powder just softens the look by leaving just a subtle hint of the shimmer from the Face Illuminator and absorbing any excess oil from your face.  True to its name, it makes your face look more angelic!

Laura Mercier Lip Plumper. If you have been dreaming of having that Angelina Jolie pouty lips, minus the surgery, this is THE solution!  I swear by the Laura Mercier Lip Plumper.  On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest), I give it a 4 for instant effect/difference.  But for the long-term effect, I give it a perfect rating of 5.  You’ll instantly feel (there will be a mild tingling on your lips) and see the results, but what blew me away and really impressed me was that long after I’ve washed or wiped it off, my pout remain looking plump.  Uber gorgeousness!  This is, hands-down, my new Best Friend!  It comes in many different shades so I suggest you carefully pick out the best shade that compliments your skin tone.  I currently use the Rose Flush and the Peach Glow.

Now, Here’s A Trick…

I mentioned earlier that these four products are all you’ll need to achieve the no-makeup, luminous look, whether you choose to put on some eye color or not.  Well, I don’t consider any look “complete” without a cheek color…so to prove that you’ll need no more than these four, the trick is to use a dab of the Lip Plumper on your cheeks as well, and voila! You’re good to go! Your cheeks will even benefit from the plumping effect too.  =)

If you just don’t like the Laura Mercier Lip Plumper (although I can’t  think of any reason why that would be the case), a great alternative would be the Lip & Cheek Stain by The Body Shop.  Just make sure to apply it sparingly at first and then gradually build up the color to your desired intensity, and you’re gonna have to apply it quickly ’cause it sets on your skin really fast.  The Lip & Cheek Stain is also much cheaper than the Lip Plumper.

The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain

With My Fab Four, you won’t need to hire the services of a professional makeup artist just to achieve the “no makeup” look.  You can do it all on your own, in the comfort and privacy of your home, and still come out looking like you’ve just stepped out of a salon!

What about you?  Do you have any beauty secrets you would like to share with me?  If you ever get to try My Fab Four, would you please share with me how it turned out for you?

You mentioned the one makeup item that I wish I had created. Smashbox, “Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder” is a work of genius. Even oily skinned beauties, like myself, get great benefits from a skin hydrating powder. The more hydration your skin gets, the less oil it needs to make. Plus the gold flecks give me the sweetest glow. Seriously, you’ll look like you just had one fantastic romp!

    Great article!
