The Arrival Of My BDJ Box

The Arrival Of My BDJ Box

It finally arrived!!!  Yes, it had been an unexpectedly complicated process for me but I’m happy to report to y’all that I have finally received my BDJ Box (enter the marching band)!  If you’ve been following my blog, then you already know about the nightmare I went through while waiting and trying to get my hands on this beauty box!  So, I’m truly relieved that it’s all over and now I can proceed with typing this post and enjoying my first batch of beauty hauls from BDJ BoxYaaay!!!

What Is A BDJ Box?

I first made mention of the BDJ Box in my previous post about the BDJ Fair 2012: Limitless, a festival  hosted by the creators of the Belle de Jour Power Planner in honor and celebration of the beauty and limitless power of the Woman.  In the same post I briefly described what the BDJ Box was all about.  So let’s review very quickly:  the BDJ Box is a beauty sample subscription service following the same business model as Birchbox, Glam Box, and Ipsy where we, Ladies, pay a monthly subscription fee and in return, we get a box of usually 5 to 6 beauty product samples delivered to our doorstep.  “Why is this the most brilliant beauty breakthrough since Botox?”, you might ask.  In my opinion, it’s because of the convenience it offers to us women who would otherwise not always have the luxury of time or even money to go out shopping for every single beauty product that comes out in the market.  Many of us would often just see high-end products in holiday catalogs and often wonder what it would be like to try them out and if they would be really worth investing half a month’s salary in.  Well, a beauty sampling box lets you try out some of the most innovative, talked-about, sought-after beauty and cosmetics brands for a fraction of the cost.

Unboxing My Beauty With BDJ Box

Anyway, on to my BDJ Box…  this is the first of a thousand other boxes that beauty rookies, seekers, enthusiasts and pros alike can expect from BDJ Box in the months to come.  My first impression:  “Wow!  This box is hea-vy!”.  Needless to say, it tugged at my Kikaystrings!  :)

So, without further ado, behold the unboxing of my “Parisian Pretty” October BDJ Box!

This was the original wrapping that my BDJ Box came in.

The packaging was pretty impressive!  It came in a thick paper board box with full color printing inside and out.  The salmon pink and dark grey combination was a very attractive choice, as well as the pink and lime green colors for their logo, not to mention the logo itself — with the box and the heart and all.  Cute-cute-an!!!

The Arrival Of My BDJ Box |

So when I opened my BDJ Box, I was greeted by this very chic presentation. The goodies were neatly wrapped in translucent vellum paper and topped with an information/greeting card from BDJ Box Beauty Ministry (Barbi, Erica, KatDy, Kate, Nicole and Tara) in postcard style!

The postcard, up close.

Notice the little picture of a stamp on the right hand corner that says, “Unbox your own beauty”.  So lovely!

This was what’s on the back of the postcard: a list of the products inside the box and a brief description of each.

There were also five (5) stickers that say, “I’m not beautiful like you, I’m beautiful like me”.  What were these stickers for again?  As stated on the postcard, 5 stickers = 5 tasks = 5 pictures:

  • Stick it on an object you see everyday, remind yourself that you are beautiful.
  • Give it to someone you think is beautiful.
  • Give it to someone who can pass it on.
  • Stick it on an area where a stranger can see it.
  • Get creative.  Figure out the best way to pass on this message.

I’ve already completed tasks 1, 2 and 4.  I’ll tell you more about it in another post, so stay tuned!  :)

I haven’t even completely unwrapped it, yet I was already feasting my eyes on what I was seeing!

Underneath the vellum paper covering:  Beauty treasures galore — the contents of my BDJ BoxTadaah!!!

I was particularly happy to see the Garnier Multi-Action Scrub among the showcased product samples because I actually use and love it!  I have also already started using both the shampoo and conditioner from Syoss, the Eternity Aqua by Calvin Klein perfume and the BB Cream from L’Oréal.  I aim to publish a review on every one of these items very soon so, again, stay tuned!

The Arrival Of My BDJ Box |

As I have mentioned earlier, I’ve already completed 3 out of the 5 sticker tasks, and this was what I did for Task #1: “Stick it on an object you see everyday”.  I stuck it on my iPad leather case.  Actually, if I flip over the case to hold my iPad in a standing position, people from the other side of the table would be able to see and read my sticker, thereby accomplishing Task #4 as well.  Smart, MyMy!  Hehe!  :)

Uncover Your Own Beauty With BDJ Box

Interested in getting your own beauty sample box?  Signing up for an account with BDJ Box is free and it’s very easy.  Just by signing up alone, you’ll get the latest updates on fashion, events, entertainment and other fun stuff!  By actually subscribing though, you’ll get a lot more!  Aside from the beauty product samples, there’s a BDJ Quiz (which I strongly encourage y’all to take after you sign up) to better help the BDJ Box Beauty Ministry handpick products that are specific to your personality, needs and lifestyle, therefore making your BDJ Box experience truly personal and beneficial.  Sharing your own photos and review of the products you have sampled will also earn you points that you can use later on.

Compared to both Birchbox‘s and Ipsy‘s $10 monthly subscription cost, the BDJ Box is very reasonably and competitively priced:

Hi, Sasa! Great to see you here. I only purchased one for this month lang, just to try it out muna. Since I was pleased naman with the first BDJ Box, I’m gonna go ahead with the bi-annual subscription beginning next month. Go ka na rin, girl! :)

  6. Girlie

I also got mine, MyMy. But I got the Yves Rocher Cleansing Milk instead of the blemish lotion. :)

  7. Eve

Great post, MyMy! Is it as good as the Birch Box?

    • Myla Upshaw

Thanks for the comment, Eve. I didn’t subscribe to Birch Box but if I’m not mistaken, Birch Box has a lot more to offer from its roster of brand sponsors. However, this is only BDJ’s first box. If I were to base my verdict on their first box, I’d say it looks really promising. :)
