Kicking Some Class | Benefit Cosmetics Opens In Rustan’s Makati!

I was extremely privileged to have been invited to the launching of the new Benefit Cosmetics store in Rustan’s Glorietta Mall in Makati City last Friday (August 31st).   I took  my darling daughter Arra with me and it was her first time to witness such an event.  Sure enough, we both had one of the most Benerrific times of our lives!

The party started at 4pm, but the main program didn’t start until 5pm.  By 6pm, the store formally opened to the public … and it was kuhrayzee!!!

In keeping with Benefit’s usual colorful standards, the place was reminiscent of a “Candy Land”!  It was like stepping inside a grownup Sanrio or Gift Gate or a Willy Wonka PINK Chocolate Factory!  I was drooling the whole time (figuratively speaking, of course) and itching to get my hands on the new products they were introducing!!!

It was jam-packed like you’ve probably never seen jam-packed before!  Fellow “Benebabes”, bloggers, makeup junkies and paparazzi all squeezed together into their new store.  Yet nobody seemed to mind at all, inspite of being stuffed into that place. We were all just having so much FUN!!!

When we arrived, we were immediately directed towards their photo booth with the familiar “We’re Kicking Some Class” promotional poster for the backdrop.  I swear, guys, sometimes I wonder why I ever agree to have my photos taken immediately after making an entrance to a party.  Minsan, I think I need a li’l bit more time to sort of “settle in” and feel more at ease, as opposed to flashing my closeup smile kaagad agad!  Arra and I were both laughing at our photo booth shots ‘coz we looked so stiff (para kaming babarilin)!  Hahaha!  Dyoskoday!  Had we had time to hang out a bit muna, my inner Eugene Domingo would have certainly been unleashed by then, I kid you not!  However, I’d rather tell you guys not to take the easy way out and just be ready for the paparazzi ALL THE TIME when you’re going to any event or party like this (and I digressed).  :)

After the brief pichur pichur session, Arra and I were each handed a plastic bag containing a huge ball of cotton candy (sprinkled with uberyummy powdered milk!) and the Benefit Cosmetics “Big Top Beauty Bonanza” catalog.

Eye candies everywhere!!! Oh, that Gabbi cookie was muy delicioso ah!

We were then prompted to proceed to their registration table and register by filling out a “class card” (I was momentarily distracted because they had their new products laid out for display on the same table).   Anyway, I had to fill out the card with some information about myself such as my full name, the website, blog or company I was representing, and who the class teacher was — in this event, it was the “Professor of Pretty”, Ms. Tiffany Chen, who also happens to be the Southeast Asia Regional Training Manager for Benefit Cosmetics.

Philippines supermodel Isabel Roces (a.k.a. the Angelina Jolie of the Philippines) graced the event with her presence as the program emcee.  Ay lav et!

Tiffany Chen talked about the new services being offered now by Benefit Cosmetics — brow tinting and lash application — both available at this newly opened branch in Rustan’s Makati.  What I truly found impressive among all the things she said about what sets Benefit Cosmetics apart from other cosmetic companies that offer similar services is that Benefit’s standards and methods are very much like those that are being followed in salons — they really pay attention to detail such as getting the color mixture right and testing to make sure it’s the right fit for the skin, etc.

Aside from the brow and lash services, she also introduced the four latest additions to their colorful array of products — the “How To Look The Best At Everything” Complexion Kit (available locally for only P1,600), the “Sugarlicious”, “Feelin’ Dandy” and “Go Tropicoral” Lip & Cheek Kits (available locally for only P1,500 each) — and explained how to use each of them “to our Benefit” (been wanting to say that! Nyahaha!).

In my humble opinion, these products are reasonably priced. Each one of these kits contains four miniature versions of their bestsellers, the regular sizes of which retails for at least a thousand bucks each. Inside the “How To Look The Best At Everything” Flawless Complexion Kit are the Porefessional pore-minimizing balm, the Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Foundation, the Hello Flawless face powder, and the Boi-ing concealer (originally made available in three different shades — Light, Medium and Deep — but just recently included a fourth shade, Fair). The “Sugarlicious” has the Benetint, the Sugarbomb face powder and lip gloss, and the High Beam. “Feelin’ Dandy” gives you the Posie Tint, the Dandelion face powder and lip gloss, and the High Beam. Finally, you get the Cha Cha Tint, the Coralista face powder and lip gloss, and again, the High Beam from the “Go Tropicoral” kit. I wouldn’t say they are trial sizes because I have seen the Porefessional product sample and the one you’ll get from the kit is slightly bigger than that. I’m assuming that one kit will last for a long time so P1,500 or P1,600 for that is certainly not bad, especially when you’re talking about the high standard of quality that Benefit makeup has long been known for. You’ll really get a bang for your buck with the new Benefit Cosmetics face kits.

Benefit Cosmetics Philippines Chief Makeup Diva, Mica Tuano-Fuentes, showing us Benebabes how to get the most out of Benefit’s latest products — “How To Look The Best At Everything” Complexion Kit and the “Sugarlicious” Lip & Cheek Kit.  She also did some lash application on those who were brave enough to approach her gorgeous Beneroyal Highness (which most certainly counted me out because I was starstruck and therefore, chickened out, hehe!).

To close the program, we had our “class picture” taken.  Fab!!!

This entire experience wouldn’t have been complete if we didn’t try out the famous Benefit Brow Bar.

More pichur pichur!

By the way, the official Benebabes Club was also launched that afternoon.

Benefit Cosmetics never took a shortcut especially when it comes to packaging. As we would say it in Tagalog, “Wrapper pa lang, busog ka na!”

Benefit’s new Lip & Cheek Kits (and I have all three of ‘em! bwahahaha!)

It was indeed an event to which Arra and I will forever be grateful to have been invited.  It was worth the hour-long drive (on a Friday afternoon) from Alabang to Makati, and I certainly wouldn’t mind coming back at all for my future beauty fixes.  My biggest “THANK YOU!” goes out to Benefit Cosmetics for the invitation.  Congratulations on another successful launch!

For the “Benefit” of the uninformed (hehe!), there are now three Benefit stores in three different locations (Rustan’s Shangri-La Mall in Mandaluyong City, Greenbelt 5 in Makati City and now, Rustan’s Glorietta, also in Makati City) and they are all ready to kick some class!

Meanwhile, here is a video coverage of the event by Life Without Borders:

So, what about you?  Have you signed up for the Benefit Cosmetics Benebabes Club yet?  Join now and see for yourself why I always say that the Benefit Cosmetics experience is an “everyday beauty salon makeover at your fingertips”!  Maybe we’ll even bump into each other in one of your shopping sprees.  ;)
