A Surprise Baby Shower For Elma Brechtel

“B” is for Boy, the latest addition to this family;
“B” is for Blue, and “B” is for Brown,
The color motif for our afternoon party!
Last March 24th, some of the SMCQC HS ’90 gals threw an intimate surprise baby shower for our very pregnant girlfriend Elma Unson-Brechtel. She is expected to give birth around the second week of April to her second bundle of joy – a baby boy! Woohoo!!!
The venue for this ultra charming celebration was The Lounge at Cafe 1771 in El Pueblo, Ortigas. The Lounge, in terms of interior design, is a cross between the modern country and the romantic style, in my opinion. It has a library feel with draped french windows and boasts a blue-green and brown color scheme.

Elma showed up at The Lounge around 3:30pm along with her hubby Henk thinking that she was going to a “Baby Expo”. Needless to say, she and Henk were delightfully surprised to find themselves walking right into a baby shower thrown in her honor. Due to the small number of attendees, we only got to play two very light ice breaker games – “The Brechtel Trivia Game” and the “Milk Sucking Game”. We also gave a ceremonial toast to the Mom-To-Be using sparkling white grape juice instead of champagne (for obvious reasons). The rest of the three-hour long party was spent mostly on chows and chats. We did feel bad that about half of the guest list wasn’t able to make it. Nonetheless, we had so much fun and the gathering was overflowing with LOVE, laughter and blessings.
