Do Your Best, God Will Take Care Of The Rest!
It’s the weekend again and I am sure some of us are taking pride in things accomplished for the past week, while some may have regrets over things they failed to do or finish. For as long as you can look yourself in the mirror today and truthfully say you did your best, there is nothing to be ashamed of. You may have heard the line, “your best still ain’t good enough” far too many times, and you might be tempted to believe that about yourself today, but let me tell you this – your best may not have been enough to complete the task for now, but it was all you could have done today and I am quite certain that it was good because “all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). If you can honestly say that you did your best, then you can also rest assured that everything else is for God – and God alone – to take care of.
Take pride in what you have accomplished so far, regardless of how close or how far you are from completing the task. Tomorrow is another day… or better yet, God willing, next week will present another opportunity for you to finish your masterpiece. Enjoy your weekend, guys!
A Short Story To Reflect On
Three people were laying bricks. A passerby asked them what they were doing. The first one replied, “Don’t you see I am making a living?” The second one said, “Don’t you see I am laying bricks and making a wall?” The third one said, “I am building a beautiful monument”. Here were three people doing the same thing who had totally different perspectives on what they were doing. They had three very different attitudes about their work. And would their attitude affect their performance? The answer is clearly yes. Excellence comes when the performer takes pride in what he’s doing and when he’s doing his best. Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it, regardless of what the job is, whether washing cars, sweeping the floor or painting a house. Many people will forget how fast or how slow you finished the job, but most will remember how well it was done.
