I haven’t written anything for my Weekend Reflections in a long while. My apologies, guys. I briefly explained in a previous post why that has been the case but I’ll say it again — over the past six months, God has done many amazing things for my family that when I start to think about every single one of them, I find myself at a loss for words (yes, even now). I am simply overwhelmed beyond words but this much I can say for now — that God answers prayers!
Oftentimes, when it takes a while before we see any results, we begin to doubt whether or not God even hears our prayers. I assure you guys, He does. It may take a while before we receive a definite “yes” or “no”, and in between, there’s usually that long and silent “wait”, but it doesn’t mean that God isn’t doing anything behind the scenes.
My answered prayer was five years in the making. Yes, it has taken that long but it was all worth the wait. You see, my request was a little too complicated (on the surface anyway, as we all know that absolutely NOTHING is impossible with God, right?) — I had been begging God to bring my son back home to us. He ran away from home two weeks before my birthday five years ago (click here to read my previous post about this). So, there were so many things going on, so many issues that needed to be addressed, so many hurtful accusations thrown… just so much damage to repair… that the thought of him coming back home didn’t look all that simple, or even possible.
However, after five long, painful years of waiting, God finally granted me my heart’s deepest desire…
As you have seen from the photos above, God brought Kyle back to us. Although he remained staunch about his choice to continue staying with his grandmother, I count my blessings — a genuine reconciliation has taken place and God is mending our broken hearts and relationships. I have so much more to tell you about this answered prayer. There’s so much wonderful news to share! However, I’m gonna have to save it for another post. I still can’t find the right words to accurately go over the details surrounding this miracle. I do promise that I’ll get that done as soon as I’m able to. For now, I’ll tell you guys that God has been filling our hearts with great joy since Christmas of last year, and I’m certain that He is far from being done.
I don’t know what you guys have long been praying to God for — health issues, finances, relationships — but let me just leave y’all with this fact: God is good and He hears your prayers. If you will just wait patiently for Him while maintaining a heart that fully trusts and submits to His plans, you won’t get disappointed in the end, whether you get a “yes” or a “no” after the looooong “wait”.
Take it from me.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11
